    Nat Turner's slave rebellion is a watershed event in America's long and trouble history of slavery and racial conflict. Nat Turner: A Troublesome Property tells the story of that violent confrontation and the ways that story has been continuously re-told during the years since 1831.

  2. MDFD Fire Engine Dedication Ceremony

    The Mount Dora Fire Department invites you to participate in the Traditional Wet Down and Roll Back Ceremony for our two new fire engines. Tuesday, May 30th beginning at 9 am at Station 34, 1300 N Donnelly Street. 100 commemorative towels will be distributed to citizens to help dry off the engines.

    The Mount Dora Library Association will present The Sounds of the Sixties concert on May 27th 2017 at the Mount Dora Community Building 520 Baker St. in downtown Mount Dora. Admission is $20.00 and all monies go to benefit the Mount Dora Public Library and its programs. This show features the songs of a generation from British Invasion to the California Sound. An evening of good music and fun.

    Would you like free help in preparing for citizenship? Please join our Citizenship Class for friendly help and advice. Class students will work with our volunteer instructor to prepare for the Citizenship process. Students will go through the application form to prepare for the verbal interview and written test. This includes speaking, reading, and writing in English and learning Civics (History and Government). Enrolled students receive free preparation materials. This is a five-week series class, taught by an instructor who became a U.S. citizen in 2005. Please register at the Circulation Desk to confirm your participation (no paperwork is required).
