    March 30, 2019, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Community Room

Local author and historian Brian Welke will guide this interesting lecture and discussion. Did you know that Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five was based on his actual experience as a soldier during WWII? Though fiction and not wanting to glorify war, the book is his way of sharing his experience of being in combat, captured, starved, and bombed by allies. Also, watching a fellow POW starve to death while another was marched off to be executed. Many know of Kurt Vonnegut’s life after WWII but the presentation will tell you of Vonnegut’s background before the war. Also, learn who many of the main characters are and about the men who served with him. No registration is required. Refreshments served. Sponsored by the Mount Dora Library Association.
